Medium and high voltage operations

Our electrical transmission activity is provided through the company REDESUR and its four electrical transmission companies: Transmisora Eléctrica del Sur, Transmisora Eléctrica del Sur 2, Transmisora Eléctrica del Sur 3 and Transmisora Eléctrica del Sur 4. These companies are responsible for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the transmission lines.

All of them collect the electricity generated by the production plants over the transport network. They then transport it stepped up to high voltage to the distribution networks. The power is later stepped down to lower voltages and delivered to the distribution companies, which carry it to the end consumer.

In order for this process to function, Red Eléctrica Andina (REA), a 100% subsidiary of Red Eléctrica Internacional and in turn part of the Red Eléctrica Group, offers the operation service for the system in coordination with the COES (Committee for Economic Operation of the National Interconnected System) in order to keep generation and consumption in constant equilibrium.
